Last summer, we at QUADRO wanted to make our balcony more beautiful—a cozy seating area was needed. Someone mentioned the word "beach chair." Big applause. Yes, that would be perfect. Let’s get two, with a table in the middle!
But then came the realization: How would we get such a large, heavy thing up there? It wouldn’t fit in the elevator. Would the men need a few extra rounds at the gym? We debated back and forth and concluded it probably wouldn’t work, especially since at least two doors on the way to the first-floor balcony were likely too narrow.
Since everyone at QUADRO is exceptionally creative, it wasn’t surprising that someone from the logistics team posed the question: Why don’t we build a beach chair out of QUADRO? A "modern" beach chair, so to speak. Luckily, a colleague from the development department was present to take the first suggestions. Long story short: the idea was implemented. A prototype was quickly built, initially without footrests. As the design was refined, it became clear that footrests were a must-have for any beach chair. The QUADRO beach chair ended up with three—so everyone could rest their feet however they liked. The seating area was reinforced with extremely sturdy metal pipes, cleverly hidden within the QUADRO tubes, making them invisible from the outside.
In late summer 2022, the Modern Beach Chair made its debut: eight prototypes were to be used at a big summer party. Transportation? No problem! Disassembled into parts, they were transported to the venue and quickly assembled on-site.
Our version of the classic beach chair amazed the guests. Not only was it cozy, but it could also be rotated to face the sun and arranged in a circle with the other chairs. Somehow, it was uncomplicated and not bulky at all.
The guests dubbed our invention the "High-Tech Beach Chair." However, since there’s no actual high-tech involved, just the tried-and-tested robust and lightweight QUADRO, the official name remained "Modern Beach Chair."
It wasn’t just a hit at the summer party—the Modern Beach Chairs are also a great addition to our balcony, making the space and our lunch breaks more enjoyable. 😊
In winter 2022/2023, we found another great use: removing the roof unit only requires loosening eight screws, which significantly reduces the overall weight. The separate roof, seating unit, and three footrests are then relatively easy to transport. Thanks to QUADRO's proven PLUG-IN SYSTEM, the beach chair remains easy to handle even after assembly.
